I have power to the coil but not any power past the coil,you would think the obvious answer would be that the coil is bad, could anyone tell me any other possibilities that there might be as to what else it could be thats wrong with it?!?!?! help asap plz

the voltage should be swiching you got to test it with a volt metoer or test light should be 12 v 0 v on and off make sure you got both hot and ground going ito the coil if it isent swiching suspect a faulty module

If you're not getting anything out of the Coil and your battery is fine, and you know for sure you are getting power into the coil, then yes that's pretty much it.

How far up are you testing past the coil? Or are you testing output directly at the coil?

If your not testing until the plugs, then there's the igniter module as well as the wires themselves.

Short circuit to ground on the neg side of coil. Check for continuity of the primary winding of the coil it should be around 1 ohm. Jules, Automotive lecturer.

I take it your talking about not getting any fire to your plugs or distributor well it depends on what kind of car you have is it a coil-PAC or dose it have a distributor. If you have a distributor then its parable the power module or the magnetic pic up or could even be the rotary butten

Ill bet it has a bad ballast resistor. alot of older cars had them, and they behaved much that way. Look for it usually on the firewall, on the lead into the points.
