Have you had him for long? I have has alot of beta's before and I notice that they do that alot at first. Do you have plenty of hiding space's for him in the tank? He may feel intimanated if he cant hide. Im sure he will get over it. We once had this beta that would let us pet the top of it. He loved it. His name was sponge bob. I love the name Finnagin for the beta thats great!!! Best of luck im sure he will get over it Betas are great pets!!!!

Well the reason why betta fish flare is because they are VERY territoral. So when they see their own reflection they assmuse it's another fish and flare to try and scare the other fish away. Usually betta fish only flare at people when we blow up our mouths. So yes he your betta fish will stop flaring at you eventually. By the way never put your betta fish in the tak with another fish otherwise he might try and kill the other fish. And when you see bubbles appearing at the top of the tank it means that it is mating season for the betta fish. And that is the only time your betta should be in the tank with another betta. Believe me I know all of this cause I have owned bettas for a long time.

Some bettas are like that. They will flare at a rock, a snail, my finger.... Others will quite happily swim next to your arm when your cleaning the tank. (One even nibbled on my arm once.) Flaring isn't bad for them unless they don't have a place to hide.

I have a betta, too and he flares up at me a lot. I think it's got more to do with being territorial and they may see us as a threat.

Nothing to be worried about...it is the nature of the beast. Your betta is just letting you know to back off from their field of vision.
Male bettas are very territorial.

Betta males hate each other, so you're doubtful to get him to stop.
