My preference would be only to spend approx 30 pounds, I did find one internet site that done helicopter rides in Glasgow but itwas 59 pounds for 10 mins. Just dont feel that the time in the air is long enough for that price. Please help me, I would be so grateful for whatever you find. Thank you

Can't quite see it happening. Compare with what a 30 minute taxi ride would cost!
Can your gran or her husband claim any history with the Royal Air Force, Paras, RM Commando etc?
I have no idea whether they could be persuaded to oblige, by way of putting a publicity/community relations slant on it.
(Or even the oil industry etc where helicopters are used frequently)
Maybe if you promised to sign yourself up for 22 years!

Helicopters fantastically expensive to fly. The £59 per 10 mins sounds right. She might have had enough after 10 mins, bucketing around up there...

there are a few, Scotia Helicopters Ltd offers scenic tours but they only last about 10 mins, and cost 35pounds, glasgow tours, loch lomond tours are more expensive up to 120. have a look at their website though and see what you think

helichoppters are bloody expensive to run, particularly in terms of fuel and maintenance (ZERO breakdown tolerance!)

i'm afraid you might not do much better than that. hot air balloon rides are probably more your price bracket (despite having to burn all that calor gas they're a lot cheaper to fly and maintain - but the guys still have a business to run). my nan loved her 85th birthday balloon jaunt :-)

you could always buy it as a joint present if you really want to gift her the (fairly unique) experience but haven't got enough spare cash to pony up for it yourself. she really won't mind two of you giving it together.
