A coworker can not get her car started because the key will not go all the way in the ingnition. Any suggestions

She just told me this has happened a couple other times. Her brother fixed it, but she does not know what he did.

keys going in, key cylinder won't turn.... tap on the key while trying to turn it and get it to a ford dealer... they have had issues with the key clyinders and there is a new one out to fix that problem.

This same ignition switch problem happened with our family 2002 Focus and it had to be towed. An internet search will turn up other stories about failed Focus ignition switches. Ford apparently picked the wrong ignition switch supplier for the Focus since these switches usually last a long, long time in other Fords.

This is odd. You might be reduced to calling a locksmith. But maybe something is lodged in the cylinder? Or the key is damaged? The only other thing is a collapsed cylinder. This is a fairly new vehicle, is it still under any warrantee? If so, she may still be covered on Fords' 24 hour roadside assisstance. Should be a 1-800 # in the glovebox or manual. Worth looking into.

Try some WD-40 in it if that don't do it then the tumblers are bad in the switch and will have to have a new key and tumbler or key switch what ever you want to call it

first visit the nearest dealer,because he could be having some information related to same problems,but any if u have some anti-rust spray with just spray in the key hole or try by using spare key
