I dont want this to turn into an argument over the war, whats done is done and now we're in Iraq, and more and more Americans are dying everyday. Why is it up to our government to decide when the Iraqi people are capable of governing themselves. It's their country that's being occupied, shouldn't they have the say as to whether we pull out now or stay, and for how long we should stay?

how dare you imply the iraqi people have any right to resolve their political-socioeconomic situation on there own. and what? give iraqis the right to self-determination like the Monroe Doctrine tells foreign countries to stay the he** away from messing with US domestic affairs?

you must assume the people - because they are living in chaotic times - are not capable due to either ignorance or threat of violence - in determining when the occupation should end. ... though they can be trusted to elect the puppet government set up by the US.

the people of iraq has spoken. the majority - despite political, socio-economic, and religious differences - want the US out. but iraq's elected officials "know better" than to have the US pull out. who would keep them in power? the people who elected them into office?????

far be it for any citizen to have a say on anything as important as the occupation of their own land.

...sarcasm aside, you bring up a good point.

No, it is not done now. Iraqi forces still cannot quash the insurgents which is Al-queda sponsored, hates the USA and has to be defeated before U.S. troops leave or we will have another tower collapse in New York. Most likely the Citicorp tower, because they have found the Citicorp tower maps on captured Al-Qeda computers.

President Bush told us in His speech to congress after 9-11, that this would be a LONG WAR fought for a long time. that means at least 10 years. In World War II it took the USA 4 years to defeat Hitler, and we still have a protective force in place in france and germany even though it has been 50 years. The troops will come home when you are a grandmother. Be patient. This is not a parlor Game. The ememy is serious and wants to kill you and destroy your ability to live the life your live.

Sharia Law does not allow you to ask such questions. Think about it. If the enemy wins you will wear a berka and not be called by name and be beaten in accordance with Sharia law.

I think when the time is right,Our Generals and the Iraqi Commanders and the coalition forces will make the decision. They know best! To pull out now would be disasterest, To give a date would be ridiculous!

The elections depict democracy as if it is connected to the idea of submission to the American occupier...

Otherwise, they would and polls show that Iraqis overwhelmingly want the US to leave immediately.

Do you listen to the president? It isn't up to us, it is when Iraq says that they are able to handle their own security, and prove it. "When they stand up, we stand down." They do have a vote, and they voted in leaders who are supporting this policy and are working to put a security force in place.
