According to Diccionario de Nombres de Personas by Jose Albaiges Olivart, Yara is a name from the Tupi language which is used in the Caribbean area and originally meant "senora" or "lady".
Like many short names, it is possible that there are legitimate derivations from other languages, but if you are Hispanic-American, this would seem to be the most likely explanation.

Yara is a designed name with its’ starting point in both the Norse lingual heritage and in the old Germanic rune alphabet”. In the Norse language Jar creates the prefix jardar, often tied to cultivated land:

Jardavoxtr – crop from the soil – which is growing
Jardareign – property of land
Jardarhofn – a person who owns and cultivates the land
Jara is moreover the twelfth character in the rune alphabet and means “the year”, often signifies a good year with good harvest (crop, production). The word Jara is also the origin to “year” in English and “Jahr” in German.

- To make it easier to pronounce the word jara in a consistent way in multiple languages, we have chosen the prefix Y that incidentally relates to the English word “Yield” (produce, support, profit),

A type of wild fruit found in Upper Orinoco Venezuela

Yara yara (as named by the Piaroa Indians of the Upper Orinoco).

May be known by the Yanomamo and Baniwa but not frequent and not many villagers know it. As far as I know, it is not grown in the slash-burn gardens or in the backyard gardens.

The fruits, 10-12 cm in diameter, are very-very good and nicely flavoured to eat. Medicinal properties are also recorded.

Any further information on this species would be appreciated.
