It was the goal that was near the end of the game.

Don't get me wrong, I'm so uber happy that we made it to the next round, I'm just curious about that last goal.

Hey there,
the referee was too busy holding up time arguing over a foul with a player who had already been red carded and should not have been on the field. If he had of removed the player 1o min earlier when he should have, no time problem, goal to Australia. It should have stood.

The reason why we didn't get it is because the referee had blown the whistle and called a foul against Australia for supposedly interfering with the Croatian keeper. The rules of soccer these days state that virtually no contact can be made on the keeper (even though Schwartzer was fouled against when we played Japan and didn't get the free kick!!). Furthermore, if you watch the replay of the incident you will see that the ball doesn't actually cross the line. In order for a goal to be given/scored the whole of the ball must go entirely across the line so even if the keeper stops the ball on the line it is not a goal.

I hope this answers your question and lastly "Go Aussies Go!!!".

I have asked the same question and no one seemed sure.
I am so proud of the whole team for making the next round.
I give a big sloppy raspberry and middle finger to all the 'doubters'.
Don't the USA have to eat their remarks about our team.
Guss Hiddink should be made an Honorary Aussie for his magnificent efforts. John Howard couldn't wipe the grin off his face during an interview with the SBS reporter.
Go Aussies go.
I just hope we get a decent referee for the game against Italy.

You want me to tell you what you want to hear? It was rigged, it wasn't fair, the odds were against us, the officials screwed up and no Australian players were to blame.

If you want the truth, it is far different. We are creating our reality, every moment, every day, by the power of our thoughts. Our doubts about the game versus our confidence we can do it, and many other affecting variables, defines reality, and when hundreds of millions are watching it and thinking about it, the outcome is cocreated at an extemely balanced way. Perhaps there were people out there praying for a miracle that would prevent Aus from beating Croat, so that is what happened, by way of the ref. The thought power of the earth is similar to the mythical power of God(s) over man. Are we using it wisely or immaturely?

Too undesirable. He nevertheless performs nicely, fat and all, pleasing brazilian followers.

The ultimate question. I still have no idea. All I can surmise is that by that stage the ref was so flustered that he had absolutely no idea what he was doing anymore.
It certainly upset me a little as I had some 'hard earned' on Australia to win.
