i keep in touch with a friend in Spain and he told me that currently he is unable to message me because Yahoo Messenger isn't working in his area of Torrevieja, Spain. Is this true or even possible ?

That's absolutely wrong for Tenerife and Madrid. Not sure for Torrevieja. I just had a chat on Yahoo with my cousin sister in Madrid and also one of my friend in Tenerife.
But yahoo messenger had problems last night, no one was able to login, it was taking at least 5 minutes to login and once logged in, it was disconnecting every single minute.
Oh, i just checked, yahoo is not working in TEXAS either. I think there is some problem or perhaps some maintenance going on in yahoo. Or someone has hacked yahoo server.
