one of two things will happen........
you will find the courage to leap,

It's very sweet of you to want to encourage your friend. I'm sure any of the above quotes would do. Just one note of caution, though, and perhaps this is just my personal take on it, but I can't stand it when I open my heart to a friend or family member and their only reply is some generic quote or saying. Maybe your friend would find it more comforting if you mentioned something you admire about him or her personally rather than relying on some impersonal advice, even if it comes from God. And of course it goes without saying that if the person's not religious, quotes of biblical scripture probably won't be appreciated at all.

On the other hand, a little note or card in the mail or accompanying a bouquet of flowers that you sign and add your quote to would be a nice reminder the day after a serious heart-to-heart. In that case, I don't have a quote, but a song comes to mind: "It's a Beautiful Day" by U2. It's a song of hope that endures even when things aren't going so well, and it's quite beautiful.

Aren't you a kind and loving friend! You might try Hebrews 6:12 "..be imitators of those who through faith and patience inherit the promises" or Psalms 25:15 "by patience a commander is induced and a mild tongue itself can break a bone" Remind your friend that if you pray for patience, God sends you time. Patience is not something we are born with, and is one of the fruitages of the spirit. To be a patient person, one has to go through trial. Perhaps this is one of your friends trials! Faith is hope personified. Faith is the assured expectation of things hoped for; the evident demonstration of realities though not beheld. (Hebrews 11:1) So tell your friend to have faith, use this as a time of learning and gaining patience, and with a friend like you there, this should all turn out alright! :)

greeneyedpat, what a lovely scripture!! I have copied it down to remember at a future time.. thank you so much!

You can't have rain without the rainbow at the end of the day, just like you can't live without realizing that you have been dead before life!!!

It is almost a cliche now, but the only one I can think of is: "Patience is a virtue."
