My lawn and backyard is giving up on me...they look worn and getting brown in some areas. I want to know what could be done. Also I am thinking about aerating as an option, does anyone know how much it costs to get help from a landscaping service. My lawn is very small and my backyard is a pretty medium sized one (the normal size). Please give me any suggestions and also if you all know a cheap service here in Collegeville, PA...that would be great!!

Sounds like your soil needs some fertilizer. You need to determine what kind of grass you have and get some seed as well. Keep it watered as much as city ordinance allows and be sure to follow the instructions on the bag your fertilizer comes in so you don't burn up your yard. You can also spread around a few bags of manure but I think you may need to reseed as well. Good luck!

Are you mowing your grass in the heat of the day? If you are the sun is burning up you grass. You don't need an expensive landscaper to aerate your lawn, get some sport shoes like golf shoes or foot ball shoes as long as they have cleats and walk around your yard, that is a cheap easy was to aerate. How is your soil dry and sandy or rich and dark? I have heard dumping beer on your lawn makes it grow better. Oh yea do you have pets or neighbor dogs that could be doing the deed on your yard?

You may have grubs, they look like really fat white worms. They eat the roots of the grass causing it to brown. Take up a small section of grass and see if you see them. You can get grub killer at walmart. Or, maybe you just need to fertilize and water it.

a good choice for watering your lawn would be to water it less often but with more water. it keeps the grass healthier

you may need to water more than one time. you should water around 8 to 10pm for 15 to 20Min's in one Spot. that will work.
