OK, I know you asked this quesiton to be a smartass- which means at least you're asking, that means your not a dumbass.
I do hear God WHEN I DO MY PART. Do I obey him?
*mumbles the word no* YES (said outloud)
First, God DOES talk to us in a few different ways. The main quesiton is- are you LISTENING or TALKING?
Scripture says God speaks with his spirit in a very small, quiet voice- its not quite audioble and you must be very very still, and very very quiet and LISTEN CAREFULLY.
Its like listening to a conversation thru a wall- its muffled, and you can almost but not quite make out whats being said.
Second: God is Love. Therefore God speaks in the language of EMOTIONS.
Third: (I hate your quesiton have I said that? I'm getting spiritually spanked here) God wrote his book the Bible- its an interesting book because if you are sincere in what you are looking for, you shall find it. The book is written like an onion- if you want a shallow answer, its there. If you want an indepth, full blown article its there also- both explainations for the same topic.
Fourth: God will sometimes speak using other people or situations that will smack us along the side of the head- if I had been listening to what God was trying to tell me, I wouldn't have lost 27,000 dollars in cash in a bad business setup.
Fifth: The loudest I hear God speak is when I am in church. Its not the sermon- about 60% of the time the Sermons applicable however- its the deep feelings I get.
Really deep feeling, and I have to listen very very closely.
Unfortunately this only happens once a week- I wish it could happen all the time.
Then I wish I had the wisdom, and self determination to actually FOLLOW what I was told :|

PS: If a preacher says it? I don't care WHO it is- you take the scripture they say and you actually READ AND FOLLOW IT- don't believe what every preacher says- do your own research and check their teachings to make sure its TRUE AND ACCURATE.
If more people did this, more preachers would be fired for lying

If all the people who heard the voice of God were placed in the loony bin then there would be no room for you. It is not the hearing of Gods voice that puts you there. It is the doing of horrible things to man or beast in the name of God made me do it. Gods own son said, "NEITHER do I condemn thee go and sin no more." That does not sound like a kill happy God to me who; in a rage says, "KILL, KILL, KILL." God LOVED us so much that he sent his son to be killed in your place.

Is it really that God is talking to you? Alot of criminals use this defense to justify their actions. In my opinion, God would never direct you to sin, or to hurt others for your personal gain. While it may be true in the past that God has used individuals, I highly doubt that God would tell someone to start shooting at people, or any type of other means of terrorism.

When it comes to God only the Pope..people of authorized religious clergy are allowed to have God speak to them. Because that is how society works today. Otherwise like Jesus you get rejected for it.
How do we even know it is really God and not just our illusion?

Don't tell anyone that God talks to you and you won't have a problem. You won't end up in the looney bin. Smart people know that. Sadly, mentally ill people don't.

Because God has already told us the answers in His bible He doesnt talk to us directly anymore like He did in the time of Noah, Moses, Paul, John etc. We now have his word.

Because most people and normally the only people that hear GOD's voice have mental problems. As far as we know there might not even be a god!! So if you hear GOD's voice keep it to yourself!!

Because we know God didn't really talk to those people, since if anyone actually hears Gods voice, their head and heart explode.
