It does'nt have anything to do with being dirty. It sounds like you might have a yeast infection. You can get treatment at any drug store.
You can avoid getting yeast infections by wearing cotton undies and not lycra or any other non breathable material.
There are certain kinds of yougurt that has a bacteria in it that fights against the bacteria that causes yeast infections. Have normal non flavored yougurt at least once a week.
Let your area breath. Yeast infections start mainly because of lack of oxygen to your area down there. The lack of oxygen encourages bad bacteria to grow, causing an odor, itching or burning sensation.
Get treatment. If you let a yeast infection go without treatment you could develop cervical cancer. Never good.
Best of luck to you.

You could have BV Bacterius Vaginus this causes smells more so when your are menstruating. Also if you have unprotected sex your bits at different times of the month changes alkalinity and this can react with sperm causing a bad smell.

Go to a GUM (Genitourinary Medicine) clinic at the hospital or your doctor to get checked out.

You have Bacterial Vaginosis, eat yogurt every day and/or buy a dietary suplement that contains "L. acidophilus" it should do the trick.

Bacterial vaginosis (BV) is caused by an imbalance of the organisms (flora) that naturally exist in the vagina. Normally, about 95% of vaginal flora are lactobacillus bacteria. Lactobacilli help keep the vaginal pH level low and prevent overgrowth of other types of organisms. Women with BV have fewer lactobacillus organisms than normal and more of other types of bacteria. Experts do not yet understand what causes this imbalance.

What Increases Your Risk
Factors that increase your risk of developing bacterial vaginosis include:

Starting sexual activity at a young age.
Having a history of sexually transmitted disease (STD).
Having multiple sex partners.
Having a female sex partner. 8
Using an intrauterine device (IUD).
Using tampons or a diaphragm.
Douching.
Oral-to-genital sexual activity.
Although bacterial vaginosis seems to be triggered or worsened by sexual activity, it is not an infection that is passed from person to person. Therefore, experts do not consider bacterial vaginosis to be a sexually transmitted disease.

Symptoms:

About 50% of women with bacterial vaginosis (BV) have no telltale symptoms. 1 Bacterial vaginosis does not typically cause itching. It does, however, cause:

An excessive grayish white vaginal discharge, unlike normal vaginal discharge (1 in 3 women with BV describe the discharge as yellow). 6
A bothersome "fishy" odor, which is usually worse after sex.

Treatment Overview
Current treatment options for bacterial vaginosis (BV) include:

Watchful waiting. In about 25% of women, BV symptoms resolve on their own. 3 This happens when the vaginal lactobacilli organisms increase to their normal levels, and other bacteria levels drop.
Antibiotic medication (oral or vaginal). Antibiotics can kill the problem bacteria causing BV symptoms but sometimes don't reverse the underlying cause. Therefore, BV symptoms recur in about 30% of women after antibiotic treatment. 1
Restoring levels of "good" lactobacillus organisms in the vagina using yogurt or dietary supplements.
Bacterial vaginosis in itself is not a medically serious condition, and it often goes away without treatment. In fact, about 50% of women who test positive for BV have no symptoms.

I'd check with your doctor. Could be anything as already suggested, or even the fluids you drink, and sweat, all the way to a disease even cancer. Cancer patients smell, but usually that is older people.
