Here at the LA Zoo the water is real stinky, but the animals are plenty loveable.

Well, first of all, a hippopotamus is not a reptile it is a mammal it has hair gives birth to live young and secondly, yes I have had many opportunities to interact, play and at times even kiss a couple of them from newborns to full grown adults. : )

I have never kissed a hippo, but my uncle has because he is an animal trainer, and he rewards a hippo named Sammy by giving her a kiss on it's nose. I think it's disgusting but he just says that it is ok as long as you wash the hippo before you kiss it.

That would be one dangerous move. More people are killed by hippopotamuses than any other animal in the safari.
