IT'S FUN TO BE NAUGHTY

2006-06-22 10:45:11 · answer #1 · answered by ? 7 · 2 2

Buttons that say, 'Do Not Press', are so appealing for the same reason as the signs that say:-

Wet Paint!!
Don't Smoke!!
Don't Walk on the Grass!!
No Alcohol!!
No food to be eaten inside!!
No petting!!

etc, etc, etc!!

Because there is an inbuilt curious, mischievous, cheeky little chit inside each and every one of us, that very few can control, that's says.."I WONDER WHAT WILL HAPPEN IF I DO"? or "Can I GET AWAY WITH THIS IF I DO"? ....

And then you get the uncontrolable feeling that the world will end if you don't!!

SO YOU DO!! And feel much better for it!!

If we didn't have that natural urge to press the buttons which say "do not press", we would still be living in caves having barbacued dinosaur for dinner. (except we wouldn't have eaten in 60 million years due to the lack of dinosaurs)

It is the same urge which allowed someone somewhere to make all those big important discoveries which have led to the technological advances we see around us and mostly take for granted.

We should be more worried about the people who just read the instruction "do not press" and accept it blindly, without querying it, than those who can't resist the urge.

It is thanks to people like you, who just won't take "Do not press" as a reason, that we are where we are today.

Why make a button that you are not supposed to press

Well, we all have a little bit of rebellion in us since day one. Think about it, when we're toddlers our parents tell us not to do something, but we go on doing it anyway; At adolescence our parents tell us not to do something but that makes it even more fun and more attractive to us. It's human instinct, wasn't Adam told NOT to eat the forbidden fruit? It's just human nature, nothing can change that.

Why?! Do you know where one is? Why don't you tell us? I have to press it! YOu selfish bastard! Just tell me where it is! Quit yanking us around. If you know where one is, just tell us already! Stop holding out on us, man. GAH! Don't you know not to tempt people with false hope of buttons that shalt not be pushed?

Because you know you aren't meant to,so with that in mind you just have to press it to see what happens next!

Because humans are curious. We want to know what will happen if we do, and there's only one way to find out. Besides, there's something innately satisfying and appealing about mischief, and we know we're not supoosed to touch...
