Bush Sr sent Bushie boy to Cheerleading school, which was fiercely competitive, with pom-poms flying all over the place and cheers to learn and human pyramids to build, and they had some uniforms too!
So it was kinda like war.

I am not sure of the exact relation but I believe Teddy Roosevelt's son fought in WW2 whileFDR was Prez

George Bush senior tried to but failed. His son was so inept and a prolific partier that he could not even show up for guard duty.
