Obviously "Chuck" knows NOTHING about Harley Davidson and their innovation. Just to name one, the Twin-Cam 88B motor ( the successor to the Twin-Cam 88 ) and the Revolution motor being used on the Vrods.
In answer to your question, Just as Harley Davidson has increased engine displacement every few years or so up to the current "standard" of 1450 cc or 88 cu. in., the jump to 1550 cc and a six speed gearbox is a sure bet. Actually, I believe there is actually already a 95 cu. in ( 1550 cc ) motor available on the Road King. Now the "bad" news, with all of these new emmissions requirements ( which are constantly evolving as well ) as fast as H-D is designing their next engine ( for the larger displacement you want ) you can bet that there wil also be catalytic converters, egr valves and who knows what else. Aftermarket "drag pipes" will probably be unavailable or ungodly expensive so, keeping that in mind, it may just be a less expensive ( and better )option, if you are considering waiting to purchase a new bike when this larger engine debuts, to buy now and do what most owner's ( including myself ) are doing, and that is, rebuilding their TC-88's to 95 cu. in. or 103 cu. in., adding a higher lift cam, having head work done, gear drive cams and, swapping out the five speed trans for a Baker or Rev Tech six speed.

ok, lets set these answers straight. first off, in the sixties thru the eighties, there was a 74 inch shovelhead motor, from 84 or 85 to 1999, there was the 80 inch evo motor, from then till now there is the 88 inch twin cam motor. its not every few years that they up the displacement, its every few decades. next, the 88b motor is not the successor to the 88, all it means is that the 88b motor has internal balancers to make the engine run smooth when it is rigid mounted to the frame without rubber isolators. this only occurs in the softail line. all softails have the 88b, all the rest of the big twins (dynas and touring) have the regular 88.
hd usually tries out new innovations on one line of bikes, works out the kinks, and then offers it in all the models. EXAMPLES in 99, the touring bikes and dynas got the twin cam motors, and the softails kept the evos, finally in 2000, it all went twin cam. in 2005, police bikes have an ABS option. still only an option on police bikes for 2006 because of problems w/the design, but you can bet that once they get the kinks worked out, it will be optional on all touring models. i truly believe that touring bikes will get the six speed for 07 or 08, but i doubt that they will increase the size of the motor. hd likes to make money selling parts and so anything that they can leave off the bikes and let the customers purchase in the dealership and have installed there means greater profit overall. the 88 inch motor with a good set of pipes, hi flow air cleaner, and either rejetted carb or efi race tuner will put out more horsepower and torque than a street legal 95 inch motor.
i work in the service dept at a harley dealer.

i have had 2 voyagers and 2 HD extremely Classics. The trunk and bags and hardware are more effective positive on the Harley fingers down. Harley has a more effective positive stereo device also. as far as average high quality the Harley comes out on proper. even if it does so with a cost ticket that still comes out way on proper. the first few years of the voyager had some warmth themes that grew to develop into particularly glaring at the same time as the mercury rose above ninety-ninety 5 degrees. the electric powered fan blew warm air from the radiator precise into your lap and face. those themes were addressed and that i won't be able to communicate as to the effectiveness of that as I easily have not rode one yet. The inventory Kawasaki became speedier than the inventory Harley from any equipment and walked faraway from it rather actual. i comprehend this from going with a chum that became try driving the Harley. The Kawasaki also has a roomier and larger plush holiday than the Harley. As of 2014 Harley has upgraded their engines to finish as if that they had a level one improve and performance further some water cooling to three fashions that if I had to guess, has positioned them on par with the inventory Kawasaki. yet once back, with a cost ticket of $6,000 to $10,000 more effective than the Kawasaki counting on which variety and thoughts you purchase. there's a myriad of things and upload-ons you are able to purchase for the Harley at the same time as aftermarket products for the Kawasaki are particularly restricted. My take, once you've a fat wallet and also you and also you income from the Harley mystique (which I completely understand) then the Harley is for you. yet for the budget minded, the Kawasaki is a rather in a position option with a good number of styling.
