What motivates poor and ugly people (and they know they are poor and ugly) to keep on living?

Poor - rich, ugly - beautiful, are concepts based on one's personal opinion. To some,$1000 would be considered rich, to others it might be pocket change. Some think Brad Pitt is attractive, I think he's ugly. I have been poor, rich, ugly, beautiful, stupid, intelligent, selfish, generous, kind, mean, dishonest, or a person of integrity,values, and principles etc., based on someone else's opinion of me. Whatever another thinks of me, it is what I think of myself that matters. As we all do, I have just as much right to enjoy my life as much as possible without harming others. Remember, beauty is in the eye of the beholder. So there is probably someone for everyone, even you.

Poor is a frame of mind, depending on the situation one is born into. Most low income people are just as happy as wealthy people because they have lived that way all of their life, and are accustom to it, and have learned over the years ways to live good without money. On the other hand, people who have money, then lose it for some reason or another, have a very difficult time with it. Those are the most likely to want to quit living.
Ugly? That's just an opinion, as is someone that's pretty, I don't think lots of people are necessarrily good looking, when others think they are. I think some people are very good looking, and my sis for example, will say, oh, she's alright looking, etc

Hope? What do you expect them to do? Commit suicide? Then people would complain about how they shouldn't resort to that just because they have a bad life. Just respect them and don't degrade their life. They probably already feel bad, so don't make it worse for them.
