you must keep ur eye at lower meniscus of the liquid if it the liquid is like water where it is curved downwards and upper meniscus when liquid is curved upwards(based on concept of excess pressure)like mercury.

A) At the level of the liquid. Parallel to the plane of the meniscus of the liquid (the curved level of the liquid). Otherwise, you will get a result with a positive or negative error. Oh, when measuring most liquids, the meniscus has the nature of being concave (curved downwards) but mercury has the special property of having a meniscus that is convex (curved upwards) due to its high surface tension.

Actually, you need to set the vessel on a level surface, and bring your eyes to the level of the liquid. Most of us get by with sloshing it in, without really looking.

you're able to desire to place your measuring cup, beaker, or the different vessel on a flat even floor, enable the liquid settle, so it is not sloshing around, and then decrease your self so your eyes are on an identical point because of the fact the exterior of the liquid and your measuring unit markers are suitable in front of your eyes.

A. You should see a sort of curved surface. This is called the meniscus. You should always measure liquids at the bottom of this meniscus to get accurate results.

AT the liquid level, and while you're at it, don't tilt your head sideways. Keep your head vertically positioned (so get down on your knees or something). This eliminates parallax throwing off the measurement.
