Ok let's recap, Pink Floyd was the original Acid Rock band. Not because they were acid style of rock, but because all their music was written while on Acid. The entire darkside of the moon album was just inspired by Wizard of Oz, and if u just look at the illustrations of their old vinyls, like The Wall, there is plenty of evidence. So im gonna go out on a limb and say they got their name where they got everything else, from a journey they went on in their minds while completely full of Acid.

They were named after two blues musicians: Pink Anderson and Floyd Council

Originally it was "The Pink Floyd Sound" before dropping the "sound" later.
