trans·gen·der:
Appearing as, wishing to be considered as, or having undergone surgery to become a member the opposite sex.
freak:
n 1: a person or animal that is markedly unusual
So.. it is very unusual to want to become a member of the opposite sex, that makes them freaks. Sorry to be blunt.
Just know that being a Freak doesn't necessarily make you bad, just unusual.

I feel that I know quite a lot about the Transgendered. There may be some psycology behind it. But, I've also learned that it can be genetic. Caroline Cosey grew up as a boy, looked like a boy, but felt as if he was a woman. Years later he, with the help of science had a gene/chromosome test down. The results found that he had 2 female chromosomes and 1 male. The majority of the earths population only has 2 chromosomes. I've read about the transgendered and watch biographies, and science shows. I like to keep an open mind about things. It's to bad that people like "Panacea" have a closed narrow mind and can't see the forest for the trees.

some days i think i know nearly everything about transgenderism, because i've wondered if i am transgendered and so have looked at many, many websites and watched several TV shows on the subject.
but most days i feel like i know almost nothing, because i don't know and can't find the answers to my own questions. and if i don't know how transgenderism relates to me, how much can i know about it in general?
i think being transgendered involves a whole lot more than just "i really wish i were a girl," which is where i'm at most of the time.

I have a sibling the is transgender. I love them no matter what "sex" they are. "He" becamae a full female last year and the only thing that bothers me about the whole thing is he looks better than I do!!!!!...and has a nicer bod!!!!! There is nothing wrong with transgender people....its like getting a present wrapped in the wrong paper...thats all..the outside dosen't match the inside...so if it means rewrapping to make the parcel better......I say go for it. I love my "sister"...no matter what...she is the same funny, amazing person...despite her gentials or change of. It is the total package that counts...not the wrapping.

i think i know a whole lot about transgendered people. I have seen them share their stories from discover heath channel all the way down to talk shows! I know that for most transgendered people its not a choice its who they are mentally, just not physically. I know its a brain disorder so no amount of therapy can cure it.

There have been such cases, followed in some detail. on tv, back around the time Phil Donohue was a talk show host. A man would urgently feel that he ought to be female and he might be married and have grown children, and get folks to go along with him. H'ed have surgery, buy a new wardrobe, get his relatives to adjust to all this and one could follow up a case on tv. Interesting. Hard to understand why anyone should want to be the opposite sex.

This question makes no sense to me. - Unless you're just trying to find out whether what the percentage is of people that know anything about transgendereds. And if you are, probably more people would pass this queestion up if they did not know, vs those that do know would probably be more likely respond.
What would you get out of knowing how much I know about this subject? Not being a booger butt.. I'm just not getting it.

Quite a lot. I was married for years to a MtF. We went out on social events with the "community". I was at the S.P.I.C.E. conference in Memphis in 1995. My ex-spouse's best friend is also TS, and although we are no longer married, we are still dear friends also. So I have met and talked to and known socially quite a few TG people. Mostly MtF, I guess. It seems more of them go to the meetings than FtM, at least in the places where we lived.

I think that a transi is someone that is uncomfortable with the way they are born and think that they would be happier as the other gender. But I also think that they are born with a birth defect. You know! Like an extra finger or something. Anyway, I have known a few in my life, and they always seem to be the happiest when they can express themselves as they truly feel they were meant to be.

My sources? Three very charming, loving, and respectable FTMs who are each someone who I had long and fulfilling relationships with. I am a nursing aide who specializes in post surgical care for transgendered men and women. I own "Tranifesto" and have a friendship of sorts with Dr. Michael Brownstein, and have also had opportunities to meet with Dr. Raphael, who are both giants in their field - excellent work, gentlemen! I have been there through the hormone therapy, the counseling sessions, the surgeries, and am preparing to go to Serbia next year for one ex's "bottom" surgery. It is a wonderful and enriching expercience to have been part of this with all three. Thanks guys, you will always be loved!
