violence begets violence.

Has there been another 9/11? I guess they are frightened off from our homeland US.

LOL...oh, you are so naive.

Rough estimate is we've killed about 40% of them and they have failed to recuit more.

Sounds like a rough estimate you pulled from your butthole.

What do you suggest we should have done?

lol, that's the governments job...the point is...what you and the gov't are doing...ain't workin. Dude, you are so overly defensive it's not even funny. Bush and his cronies could've tried to stop this. They didn't. They knew OBL and al qaeda were planning something. They did nothing. They let 3,000 americans die with their inaction. To serve their political agendas.

Frightened? I don't know...Weakened, yes.

You know, if we had REALLY used overwhelming force on day one, the war would have been over 3 years ago. However, we're fighting a "politically correct" war against an enemy who doesn't wear a uniform, who uses deceptive tactics, such as hiding behind innocent citizens.

This war cannot be won overnight. The new Iraqi government needs to continue on the path of rebuilding their country. Over time, the insurgents will see that they're fighting a useless battle. Then, they will see that the new government is for everyone...Not just for Sunnis, not just for Shiites...They will have no need to fight anymore. Life will be good.

But history has shown, just as one nation gets settled, another one erupts. I hate to say it, but that's the way this world is and always has been.

Quite the contrary....look at how long the middle east has been in turmoil....always warring with one another....these satanic pricks will not stop until they have subdued all to their ways of life....islamic terrorists are modern day Nazi's...unfortunately they are not all contained in one country...there are cells everywhere, therein lies the problem....so instead of invading from country to country (IRAQ) and losing American (and innocent lives in other countries) America should keep soldiers at home securing OUR borders to the point that NO ONE gets through...not illegal immigrants, drug smugglers....terrorists. Economically, politically, militarily...America cannot afford to go country jumping everything there is a terrorist threat.

We have made significant progress against al quada in afhganistan. However we only made things worse in Iraq. According to the 911 commission there was little connection between Saddam and al quada. Al quada only cropped up there after Saddam was ousted. We are too busy fighting insurgents in Iraq that have nothing to do with Al quada to actually fight terrorists that wish harm to the US.

No, we've just p*ssed them off even more. We like messing with other governments. The United States government needs to take an isolationist stance. Let other countries deal with their own problems. For that matter, the U.S. government can go to h*ll as far as I'm concerned. I never signed on to the constitution. I never agreed to be part of this administrative monopoly we call the U.S. government. They can burn as far as I'm concerned.

No. They are just lying in wait. Why do you think Bush all of a sudden decide to start cracking down on Border Patrol. 2 + 2 is ?

We are not only frightening them, we are killing them.

There has not been a terrorist attack on U.S. soil since the War on Terror.

Unbelievable answers from some of you libs.
"we just made them madder"

"--ooooh, we musn't upset the terrorists! They may attack AGAIN. Maybe if we just sit in our circle and sing kumbaya they will leave us alone!"

no. We stalled some of their activities by getting them to focus in iraq, but the long term problem of technology creep is still going to get the usa nuked unless we make peace with arabs and palestinians.

Yeah sitting on our hands and liberal appeasement is really going to fix the problem, if a dog bites you once he will bite you twice, if he bites you once and you defend yourself, he won't bite you again.

If a friend of yours (someone who knows who you are like Al Qaeda), steals from you and you know about it but do nothing, he will do it again, if you do something about it in the first place, HE WON'T DO IT AGAIN!

I'm not even going to start.
OK, I will...
What could we have changed that made them fly airplanes into the WTC after it happened? Tell them, "Ok, you win, we agree that we are bad and should do what you think we should do." ?

There's no way to know how it changed the minds of some would-be terroists unless you are one or know some.

What do you suggest we should have done?

So someone killing 3,000 of our civillians isn't our problem?
