My engine wont crank back up after it has been running for a while. It is a 1987 GMC 1500 Fuel Injected 305. I think maybe O2 Sensor.

To answer your question the O2 sensor is located in the exhaust pipe or header. There maybe more than one. If you're not getting a check engine code start some where else. Those little guys are expensive and most likely not your problem.

Of course you need to start at the battery because it takes more amps to crank a hot engine.Your reserve {CCA}{Cold Cranking Amps} will be much (lower) when HOT..A LOAD Test of the Battery will determine if it is within specs. Then proceed to the starter-{starter draw} BE SURE you check the connections UNDER the Battery Terminals & be sure the engine, frame & body grounds are clean & tight.IF the TIMING is to high - it will cause the same problem.O2 sensors will only affect the computer & weather or not the system stays in CLOSED Loop or OPEN Loop..A VERY loose Timing chain will cause the problem but that usally only happens on an engine with a BaZillion miles on it.

o2 sensor wont do that, you may want to check the coolant temperature sensor that'll cut off the engine if it gets too hot, o2 sensor is located above or below the catalytic converter on the exhaust pipe!

you might want to look into the catylic convertor, under the truckconnected to the exhaust pipe, the sensors will not cause the truck to start, they are only to help with emissions and gas usage...i would start with the convertor, if it gets to hot it cause the car/truck to turn of when hot or not turn on at all when hot..i have a 84 chevy truck...try replacing the fuel filter, this will help, good luck

Vehicles have more than ONE oxygen sensor, the engine has it. Including muffers, and fuel intake.
Too bad its not hooked to a smog device or car mileage computer.

I agree on the cables and starter. My lumina started fine cold but wouldn't crank when hot. Problem was starter

sounds like a bad starter, cranks good when its cold but when it warms up it wont start
