Every once in a while isn't bad...I switched to sprite or sierra mist just to not get too much caffiene...every now and then isn't a big deal...but who needs the sugar...plus sodas tend to give me heart burn now...

oh and PS to whoever said to drink juice...Juice has almost twice the amount of sugar and a ton of acid...again with the heartburn...

Milk is good (organic is better "no hormones") and water is really really good and a soda everyonce in a while is ok...I even have a cup of half caff coffee every once in a while...

It sounds like your being really careful...go ahead and crack open that can of soda...and enjoy...lol..just remember to have the tums hand for after...lol

Good Luck and Congratulations!

I am just shy of 6 months pregnant. I drink soda everyday. I make sure I get my 8+ glasses of water a day, plus juice and milk, but I just have this thing for soda. I get both caffeine and non-caffeinated. For the most part I drink the non, but once in a while I drink the regular, whenever I need a boost. Nothing is wrong with that at all. I drank the same was when I was pregnant with my first son, and he is the healthiest little guy ever.

Ok, DO NOT LISTEN TO ANYONE that tells you you can't eat this or that. It's all bull. Aside from the obvious things like certain soft cheeses and too much tuna or any alcohol that is obviously bad, you can have WHATEVER you want!!! I have been pg twice and gave birth to very healthy ,very intellegent children. I drank soda quite a bit and ate everything i could get my hands on (without going overboard) throughout my whole pregnancy. So don't be crazy about it, but don't be a health freak and overly cautious about what you eat or drink during one of the most happiest times of your life!!! Congrats and God Bless!!

Just try to stay away from the caffeine. It really isn't that hard to give up soda for 9 months though, just think about it and try. I started running and haven't had a soda in 2 years.

I recently read that its fine, as long as your only drinking between 1 and 4 (8 oz.) servings a week of caffine. So, if you have a cup of coffee on monday, then a soda on Wednesday and another on Saturday, you should be fine!

Good luck with your pregnancy.

Well honey are you a diabetic or anything similar that would cause you medical problems if you had a soda? You may wanna ask your doctor just to be safe. Nowadays it seems like doctors are finding so many things that are not good for us and especially for women who are pregnant. Just be on the safe side eh? (smile)

There is nothing wrong with a coke a day especially if it is caffeine free. Our bodies cant metabolize caffeine, so it goes straight to the baby. Just whatever you do don't diet drinks.
