Okay, I moved to California about two years ago, after graduating from college. I currently work for "a large company that deals with mice"-hint hint. I have a Bachelor's Degree in Theatre and have many different talents and skills. I make about $1200 a month, but I am barely making it. I am looking for a career, but I cannot seem to find anything. If anyone has any info, please help.

You need a new line of work.

Your current job sounds like a dead-end, close-to-minimum-wage job, so why stay there? You may get an extra fifty cents an hour but, whee, $12 or $15 a week after taxes won't change your quality of life much!

Your degree is nice to have but unfortunately, it's not very marketable.

Look at some of your other skills--- and previous work history, if you have any--- to decide what your next move will be. If you have a marketable skill, then exploit it. If you don't want to attend more school, then you need to become a skilled workman (or, more appropriately, workwoman!); otherwise, you'll be stuck in low income forever.

I can't help but wonder... $1200 a month doesn't sound like full-time work so you may consider getting a second job to build up your income, while you decide what the next thing is.

Maybe find a theatre group in LA and audition for some roles. Or, you can try to work in the business. A prop girl, a set designer's helper, something. Or, you can go back to New York (or go there if you are not from there) and try your luck in theatre over there.
I wish you nothing but luck!

Does that mean you work for a biolab company or disney land. Either way california is expensive to live in, I suggest you keep your theater major to yourself and go get a job as an admin assistant, Our AA's make about 6 figures a year. Just need to be able to type and babysit an adult

$1200/month? I thought I was bad. anyhoo, what does your heart want? you want to use that theatre BA or do you want to make some money? Mortgages, financial advisors make killings. you start very slow but commissions good. oh, you have to be okay with commission only too.

I'd say stick with what you're doing for a while, then go for a promotion. You probably want to hear "go for your dreams, girl, you can do it!" but when you're desperate and broke, that's just not practical. You gotta take care of food and rent first!
