yes, in some areas quite a bit more easily than others. it's just about impossible to get anything in the SF bay area for less than half a million, yet that much will buy you mulitple acres and a house in some states.

Yes this is true. It depends on exactly what job you have, how many children/cars/pets you have. Most people have houses, varying in size and cost, one car and maybe a garden. Pools, while common, are not something everyone with a good job has.

i hope this answers your question!

Absolutely. Most people with a higher level of education who work earn a sufficient amount of money to afford the niceties of life. It's even better when 2 ppl, a couple say, work toward a common financial goal.

I used to be English, came to US twenty years ago, worked fairly hard (though not too hard), and now work mostly because I like it & enjoy the healthcare benefits, not because I need the paycheck.
If you are a "lazy-bones" here, however, they will let let you starve.
There is no real "dole".

(I have a large house, several cars, and enough savings that when I retire I won't be able to run out of money if I continue my current lifestyle!)

Yes it's true. But everything has its cost. And the cost for having things is work. Plain and simple. One thing I've noticed is that when people immigrate to North America, they come with expectations of working hard and "paying their dues" for a while before the money rolls in. Adopt that kind of thinking ... do what you have to do up front, and wait for your opportunities and your money to come. Be diligent ... it will come.
