I struggled with acne for years and I finally found the solution that works for me. We have been fooled, tricked, deceived, and just plain lied to. It's time that someone put a stop to it, and everyone learn the truth!
Those of us who suffer from acne have usually been given 2 choices and neither of them work:
1. Over the counter remedies such as cleansers, creams, ointments, etc. These things have been proven over and over again not to work. Why? It does not address the root cause of the problem.
2. Go see a doctor and or dermatologist. They will generally prescribe prescription drugs which include topicals and or antibiotics. This, too, has been proven over and over again not to work. Why? It does not address the root cause of the problem.
I found a step-by-step program that cured my acne and it has never come back. It is amazing and doesn’t use any drugs or doctors. The truth is that acne can be cured…if we know the secret the doctors and drug companies don’t want us to know.
There is a great website: http://cure-my-acne.info/3daycure/ that has all the details. I really suggest you check it out and see if it works as well for you as it did for me.

For starters, I hope you're only washing your face at night before bed and then once in the morning when you get up, before you put on makeup. And the makeup up you use should be for sensitive skin if you have a bad acne problem. When you wash your face, use a mild cleanser followed with a toner that will even out your skintone, then finish with a light oil-free moisturizer that will keep your skin balanced and soft. Some over the counter brands like Physicians Formula carry a makeup line that is talc free and are made out of natural minerals that are specifically for sensitive skin. This is a good brand that's not expensive and is made for problem skin. If you want a better line of makeup (costs a little more) that's good for your skin, there's some excellent brands such as Bare Escentuals, Mary Kay, and Sheer Cover. I have friends and family that use one or more of these brands and they've all had excellent reviews. But this is just from experience and what I've been told, so you will have to find the right brand for you. You should also see a dermatologist that can recommend something if nothing else works. Just keep in mind that most insurances don't cover dermatologist visits, and so it can be expensive to see one, but a good doc will help you find a product that is suited for your skin. Good Luck!

I too have very acne prone skin. I'm 28 and have been dealing with thisi problem for over a decade so I think I've tried just about everything (including Proactiv, which didn't work for me either). I've found a few things that work for me:
1) Neutrogena products and make-up. I use the "oil-free" line from Neutrogena including the wash/mask, scrub/mask, and spf15 moisture. I only use Neutrogena make-up (except for mascara, cuz that doesn't really affect your skin!).
2) Visit a dermatologist if you can. I'm trying to get pregnant, so there aren't a whole lot of pills or other medications I can use. My doctor has me on Finacea, which works pretty well (it does cause drying, so make sure you have the moisture handy!).
3) When I get a bad one, I use that Clean & Clear in the silver tube that is supposed to work "overnight". It doesn't work overnight, but I am certain it helps get rid of them faster!
4) Wash AT LEAST twice a day. I usually do three times. I always use the mask/scrub at night. It is important to exfoliate your skin. This helps with acne scars as well.
5) Most importantly, I have learned that what you put in your body really IS reflected on your skin. You need to drink mainly water (or crystal light, same thing practically!) and eat a lot of vegetables. Putting fresh and organic foods into your diet will help you get the nutrients your skin needs to heal and clean itself properly.
I hope this helps a bit. I noticed that it took about four weeks of regularly eating, drinking, and washing properly for the effects to be noticeable. Stick with it, it will work! Good luck!

I hope this will help you, when I was 14 my dad said I want to take you to the doctor to get medicine for your acne...I never had it like to an extreme or anything but I was prone to cysts on my cheeks which were big and red and took forever to heal.
My doctor put me on an antibiotic which I took for 6 years; now did it help well I still got pimples but I didn't get the giant scar causing ones anymore and I never had blackheads. He also prescribed Retin-A...it was horrible...you couldn't go in the sun if you were using it, it makes your face break out really bad to start with and you have to use exactly as it says or it doesn't work...I didn't use this for long because I wasn't happy with it.
I didn't pay attention to if you are female or not but if you are; some people say going on a birth control pill can help because it regulates your hormones...this helped my sister a lot she used to have bad acne she went on bc and hers cleared up...but it isn't an answer for all people.
I use the Avon astringints and I am not an Avon lady or anything...but I do use those to wash my face in the evening and my face does seem to be better when I use them. I have also used their spot treatment gel which you put directly on a new forming blemish to dry it out and it seemed to help as well.
I have never tried any of the as seen on TV stuff so I can't tell you how they work..but I had a student who tried Proactiv and it didn't do anything for her.
I would see your doctor and depending on your age they will find something that is suitable for you..one thing I can tell you is to wear sunscreen when you are outside no matter what you use it will help a lot.

i have had acne since i was 8 yeard old, i am now 16. You might want to try going to a doctor and getting something perscribed, if you are already seeing one, ask them to refer you to a dermatologist at the hospital. I have been seeing one for about 6 months the spots themselves have gone, and he is now working on the scaring :) they usually dont stop until it is all cleared up.
Good Luck!
