My mother has tons of magazines thats she of course had paid allot of money for, she wants to find out shouldn't there be a place that you can recycle for money back? She lives in San Jose Ca. I called several places and no one seems to know?

If she can't sell them maybe you could consider donating to a senior center or group homes or libraries in the area. As far a I know the recycle places still don't like the slick magazines because the paper has been treated. Sunnyvale is not too far away - they might have magazines in their recycle program, but I'm not sure they'll pay for them.

For future she might think of trading with friends.

I live in the Bay Area and have not heard of a specific outlet - but depending on the age you might approach an antique dealer. If she has a "complete" set of a particular type going back at least 10 years they might be interested on consignment.

Your best bet however might be to list them on e-bay. Be careful you understand the shipping costs so that freight doesn't eat your profit.

Finally, if you wind up with nowhere else to go, the local Library might be a resource. Call and see what they do with theirs over time.

Check the Penny Saver, I have seen companies advertise there w/ coupons paying a $1 and change per pound. Good Luck!
