I'm an author-to-be and I need help to write better so I can be published. I'm writing a children's series and a fantasy series at the same time, and it's really getting hard to continue with my work. I get to a certain point and then I'm stuck.

Can anyone out there help me? I'm 21 years old and don't want to let the best years of my life pass me by.

practice..........
I journal everyay. I write about my thoughts, activities, people I meet. It keeps me observant and introspective. Also in my journal I create characters. I give them a name, a personality, a look, and a history. It is just for fun. Sometimes I even create a plot in just a few sentences, including a conclusion. (the hardest part) Just to practice. Writing is an art like any other, it has to be practiced to be perfected.
I know it was already said but workshops can help too. Choose wisley which workshops to attend. Make sure it is structured with take home tips and activities. Some times they are just supervised writing time and they don't have much to teach.
Imagination is a tool that has to be kept sharp!

One way to improve your writing is to read a lot. Read books by people who have stood the test of time -- and I don't mean airport books by people like Stephen King, etc.

Also, rewrite. Go over your stuff the next day. You'd be surprised at how something that seemed great the day before looks ridiculous in the light of morning.

Getting to a certain point and getting stuck is not uncommon. If you try too hard, you'lll just screw things up. It has to flow. Try working around the missing part by writing another part of the story (or another story completely) and going back and filling it in later. Forget about it for a few days. Sometimes when you go back and look at it, the solution is very clear & you'll think "why did I think I was stuck anyway?"

Good luck & have fun.

Be prepared for a lot of criticism and waiting. Many people wait decades before getting published, let alone being successful at it. Work hard, be a stern critic of your own work, take classes, and join a writer's group. Many libraries host writer's workshops. While your there, take out books in the genre you wish to write in and read those author's works. Do not steal their ideas, but become familiar with the genre.
Finally, write, write, write. If you get stuck, take a break and go over some older pieces you wrote. That will help your juices start flowing. Have faith in yourself, and practice your craft. This is not easy work. But, you can do it. You're a WRITER!

The old saying practice makes perfect is right.
To become a better writer you should continually be writing. Write whatever comes to mind. That will clear your head or give you a good idea. Writing often will help you develop your thoughts better and more clearly.
Also when writing take a extended break from your work once a draft is completed. A couple of days will give you a new perspective to view your work from.

Workshops and classes are beneficial by focusing and honing your literary skills. Also, focus on one story at a time. You can have an outline for an entire series, but maintain your attention to one part of the storyline.

Another point that helps writers ... experience. Go out and build up your experience in the real world. Take things from what you see and feel around you and pour that into your work.

You should try writing them one at a time so it doesnt get so confusing and so overwhelming. It might help to write some, then take a break and do something else you enjoy, then when you don't feel so overwhelmed, jump right back in. Also, keep your mind going, and take down notes as you go places. But think about ideas that are original and unique, yet interesting for the reader. Good luck :-)

If I knew the answer, I'd be rich. You can learn to write better by taking classes, reading books, etc. but inspiration is a whole other deal. Writers block happens to the best of writers. Each individual has to find a way around it on their own.

My suggestions: trying meditating to clear your mind. Go outside and look around. It's easier to write about what you know than what you don't know.

work one at a time so that your ideas to cross. to be a pro writer, you have to have many ways to get rid of writer's block. a couple ideas are just forgetting about the book for a while and doing something completely different. new ideas will automatically pop into your head. or read other kinds of books.
being a pro takes practice and time. stick with it. ur only 21 so you still have plenty of good years left. good luck!!

Read a variety of successful authors to develop style (your own, plagiarism is frowned upon) . To be a successful author, I understand that you have to treat it as a job: you sit down at a desk, and continue until the project is finished. I personally lack the discipline. Good luck!
