As a 6 year tech support vetern and currently a corporate helpdesk manager, I've seen almost every brand of laptop come through. I'm going to add my recommendation to the Dell crowd...it's the kind I also own. Built in cameras, while nice, aren't necessary since a decent seperate USB webcam is $40 and much easier to move around...so if the price difference is that much, pick up the cam seperate.

You should decide on what features are most important. Size, weight, battery life, wifi, the built-in camera, etc. Figure out your budget and if there is no limit then I'd look at the brand new Toshiba with a built-in camera as they make great products. Since, I always like to compare IBM also makes fine products, so compare it to a similar IBM. If the dollars matter you might consider a refurbished unit.

Apple just released a new laptop, the MacBook, and it comes with a built-in camera and is pretty darn fast and you can even get a college discount for it...

I use Macs and completely love it. I feel the OS is better than Windows and there are less viruses than PCs...
