Ignorance of the law of nature; people relate shyness with homosexuality, like kindness to weakness.

I've never heard of shyness being correlated with gays. Who knows? SOME gays are pansies like the other guy mentined, but it's not all inclusive. (no, I'm not gay, but have known many homosexuals.)
Shy and very private people sometimes draw questions cause they're seen as "quiet types". In social Alpha Male settings, guys who're silent draw on the insecurities of those trying to posture as the "top dog".

Some people might associate quietness with submissiveness like a woman or child.
They said children are to be seen and not heard.
In Cingular's fifth annual wireless usage survey, men once again lead in the number of minutes used. This year men talk 35% more, more than double the 16% figure from last year's survey.

I have never heard of such a thing. Maybe because many gay/lesbian/bisexauls have to hide to be safe in some areas, so whenever somebody hears that someone is gay their first reaction is "That girl? She was always just nice and quite, I didn't know she was a lesbian. Huh." But I really have never heard of that before. If anything I think drama queen.
Plus there is nothing wrong with being shy. I'm shy and I'm not a lesbian. (Not that there would be anything wrong if I was.) Some people don't really "get loud" until they know you and feel comfortable around you.

I'm not sure -- but it is true that some of the nicest gay bois I've ever known have been shy. I never thought of it that way before, but its true. I on the other hand am a clown, always was, most popular boy in my class, couldn't shut my mouth --- and I'm as queer as a three dollar bill, thankfully.
So I wouldn't sweat it one way or another.

I wonder if it's a throwback to the bad ol' days when your homosexuality had to be kept secret, hidden, quiet, away from prying eyes...
Just like shy people are secretive, withdrawn, quiet and no one knows what they get up to when they're out of view...

What people are doing that? I don't do that. I see no connection between the two.

Um, because you're covering all your bases. Gay men are stereotyped as either "super-fabulous" (read: Fa-Bu-LUSSSS) or else shy. No matter who you meet that's gay, they're gonna reinforce one or the other.

When everyone attacks you for being yourself, you tend not to want to share anything about yourself. But I don't know anyone, personally, who is both gay and shy. All my friends are *PUH-ROUD*!

I don't. Some people just call others gay just to call them a name. It means nothing. Tell them sticks and stones.......
