That's a hard question....I think many people feel the way you do....I know that i have a hard time thinking about bringing kids into this world....I fear for them and there future....growing up i always wanted to have kids....but now that im older and i see all that is going on, I think I have changed my mind on having kids....which saddens me, but I would hate to know what this world will turn into long after our generation is gone.....There are many changes that need to be made in order to bring back the world from the brink of destroying itself....unfortunately its not in our control......I wish it were though.....I really do.

No, it's natural for you to want to have a better world for your children. You care for them and want them to have a better life than you have. You're a parent; and parents aren't naive when it comes to their children. They're protective. As for the rest of the world? It's always been nuts on Earth. We just have more people and the ability to learn that a guy in Omaha, Nebraska backed his tractor over his chicken coop because the news is on 24 hours a day. Do your best to give your kids a good life. Then they can take care of themselves. Good work, Mom.

The Lord can do anything. And through Him we can bring the world back to peace. It is not naive to hope for a better world, not at all. I hope for a better world in my lifetime and my childrens lifetime. I wish more people thought like you and acted on it. If we only thought of our lives as a link in a chain of people and how everything we do effects later generations. The blessings we secure for our lives seep into our children and grandchildrens lives. I hope the best for you and your family.

No. What is the point of being human if not to strive for a better future, and your children embody your future?
I agree there are a lot of threats, not least to the world environment, that need to be addressed so that the world will be a fit place for today's children to live in.

I do not think you are being naive by hoping for a better world for your children. If the world refuses to change your children can create their own world and live in it if they know how.

Show your kids the beauty of this world, be prepared to explain the hardships. The world is no less horrible than it was at virtually any time in our history. If you teach your children to make wise decisions and to "love their neighbor" you'll be doing your part to make the world better. Imagine if all children were taught that?

It's not hopelessly naive what if we all thought like that? Act now to make a better world - it's better than pinning your hopes on some dubious promise of an afterlife

It all depends on the powers that be at the end of the day. Very often the media will perpetuate and ideas ideas that ultimately fizzle out to nothing - only to create new scandals to sell papers and grab airtime. Also Politics rules us all, but we ultimately steer, or should I say influence and guide our children. Let us give them a decent upbringing - it is our duty. And the loving kindness we give them - no one can take away! It will be locked in their hearts forever.

there are so many good people left in this world, but i don't think thats enough anymore. maybe its best not to rap your kids in cotton wool,so that they learn how to survive in this horrid world! i was protected to much and i do not fit in, even my friends can be too bitchy for me to handle, let a lone being able to cope with the other nasty things that go on around us.
i wish the world was better, coz then i'd have more kids and live on a big farm somewhere and live happly ever after like in beauty and the beast, lol!

Never give up hope. As they get older they will make their world how they want it, even if it means going to a remote part of the world. God willing, there will be a World in the future!
