Not if your muscular, plus it depends on your body type. I'm also 5'6". At 145 pounds I would look sickly skinny because I'm big boned and therefore I will weigh more then those with a smaller body type. So, it mostly depends. Even for a small frame, 140 pounds is healthy. I think your great! You just need to work on your self esteem some. Learn to love yourself the way you are. I'd say your at a perfectly healthy weight. Keep it. Don't lose any. Flaunt what you have girl!

Well, what is your age ? Anyway, 140 lbs for a 5'6" frame sounds like an ideal. As stated earlier, muscle weighs more than fat, so, its not in the numbers but in the mass distribution

if you have a muscular build and solid bones you are a great weight for your height

dont use BMI - they are misleading for muscualr people

pop down to your local gym and ask then to do your skinfolds and calcualte your body fat%

if you are 24% or under thats great - if you are 24-28% you could probably lose 1 or 2 lbs - whihc you can easily do by adding in a bit more cardio exercise to your week

if you are over 28% you need to think about changing your diet
