A person who is happy with himself is the utmost importance --followed by the maturity to handle whatever comes along in life. A disciplined person with integrity and high values and respect for himself and others takes the lead over a job. A person who is doing a job he really really likes, never "works" a day in their life.Success is never measured by the stature of a position at work, or the money a person has. It's what they do with what they have makes them a success. All the possessions in the world mean nothing if a person doesn't have what we have discussed. The poorest people in the world that find the simple pleasures in life are admirably the most successful.

The person who is happy and at peace. Because when you're not happy with yourself you're always looking for something to fill the void. But you won't find it. And can you be successful when you're always looking and never satisfied?

Success is something that is difficult to define in a broad sense, but I feel that those who base it merely on monetary standards are missing a larger philosophical point. For me, the time I spend helping, teaching, talking with and playing with my children is worth way more than any hourly wage.
Here are some wiser folks' thoughts on success:
"Success is to be measured not so much by the position that one has reached in life as by the obstacles which he has overcome. " ~ Booker T. Washington
"Try not to become a man of success, but rather try to become a man of value." ~ Albert Einstein
And my personal favorite:
"I'd rather be a failure at something I love, than a success at something I don't." ~ George Burns

depends on who is defining 'successful' and what being successful means. if life's aim is to be self-satisfied then yes he is successful. or if status defines success then the one with the high profile job would be considered successful by other people

I'd rather be at peace and happy with an alright job than to have a high-maintenance job and be stressed all the time.
You?

Personally I would pick the more satisfied person. But I understand that other people would be justified with the achiever who yearns for more.

Happiness always beats out J.O.B. (just over broke). A job is just a dead end. And I'd rather be dumb and rich than smart and poor. If you are rich, you can buy knowledge. If you're poor, that's it, you're just poor.
