Because it's a non-revenue producing, low skill occupation.
You want less stress and higher pay? Stay in school and then start a career, not just a job.

My GOD, what a bunch of whiners. Guess what? Customer service reps are necessary, but they're also a costly non-revenue generating overhead expense...why do you think call centers are being outsourced?
Stop bitching! You wanna make more? Go to COLLEGE and study a marketable career field...

Because as long as there are people like us that are willing to continue to work the low paying customer service jobs, they are not going to pay it. Of course I get paid ok for my customer service job, but that is because it is through the government, and for that, it really isn't much! It should be a lot more!

Job wages are not based on stress but on supply and demand.
If you are a Molecular Biologist you will make $515.00 USD per hour because there is a lot of of demand but not enough supply (Actually most Molecular Biologist are imported from overseas)
On the other hand if you are a College Dropout you will make $5.15 USD per hour because there is a lot of supply and not enough demand.
In fact, the main ocupation for females without a College Degree is Waitress.
The Supply for Waitresses is so big than is many restaurants they don't even pay you! (You work only for free food and tips)

Exactly that. Customer service jobs are considered piss on jobs. However, CEO's sit on their asses and sign papers all day. And football players play about half the year and get paid millions plus endorsements. So goes life. It sucks, then ya die.
