come on bass rules them all
lead guitarists have the biggest egos followed closely by drummers
however look bassists such as flea(red hot chili peppers) or
Dan Adriano(alkaline trio)they write some awesome music and Dan writes some great songs.
but don't get me wrong guitarists still write some great stuff
bassists are often overlooked its time for all you bassists out there to start a REVOLUTION!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That all depends upon what you like to do. If you like to PERFORM definately lead vocals. If you like to lay out the rythym for the band bass or drums. Chords are hard to learn and solos are hard to come up with any thing original however if you are dedicated enough you could have fun on lead guitar as well.

it all depends on what type of music is being played and what you want to accentuate. I bluegrass player will tell you that the banjo or fiddle sounds the best, or a country player may say the twangy guitar or lap steel guitar is the best. In a band all these instruments contributes to the entire sound and you can tell the difference if you here them all and then one of them is taken away during a song.

well, in modern music, i would say none of the above and say...
Rythmm Guitar/Bass/Drums/Lead/vocals in that order
Rythmm drives the music, it's tough to find a great rythmm player, everyone wants all the glory that comes with drums, vocals and lead guitar.
As a point in case, I reference Malcom Young, the true driving force behind AC/DC. All those driving 3 chord riffs aint angus, it's his brother malcom.
