Her mother is white, which makes her half white. So why does she make this huge *** deal about being black? Sounds like being black is a matter of conveince for her. Remember your heritage, Halle!

Because in America, it does not matter if you are bi-racial, tri-racial or whatever; if you are mixed with Black, that is what you are considered, Black. And just for the record, being Black is not considered a convenience.

she probably does it for a number of reasons. What if we never knew if Halle's mom was white. People would automatically assume she is just black, because the fact of the matter is, she really doesn't look white. That may have affected her growing up. So instead of being ashamed of her blackness she embraces it. Yeah she is half white, but be honest if she went around talking about how proud she is about her white heritage, people would look at her like she was crazy. I dont think its for attention, its just that she isn't afraid of who she is and where she came from.

If you're not black yourself or have read into black history and how much the culture was oppressed then you wouldn't understand. She has a strike against her growing up because she's mixed but obviously perceived as a black woman. She's proud of where she comes from and has accomplished things that most people never do in life. I think it's a person's duty to be proud of their heritage.

I have noticed that she does that too! I mean, i don't care what color she is, which is WHY it bothers me when she brings it up in interviews over and over again. Like, was winning the Oscar an accomplishment for you bc you are a great actress and did a great job or only because you are a black actress? I know that there is racism in Hollywood, I don't want to minimalize that, but I feel as though highlighting the race card will only perpetuate it.

I didn't realise she made an issue of it.
She is an amazing looking woman & a quite good actress.
Unlike some black actresses she at leaast looks black.
The last time I saw Beyonce Knowles on TV she looked whiter than i am & I am scottish so I am really pale. (Advert on TV)
She has had her hair straightened & lightened & her make up made her look like a loghtly tanned white girl.
Maybe she is the one who should remember not Halle Berry.

I don't think she makes a deal out of it! She's proud to be mixed with what she is. Her Mother is white and she adore her Mother. You always hear her talk about her Mother and how much she means to her. She may be mixed with white; but her skin color is brown a beautiful, beautiful light brown. I think she's beautiful, and she's an excellent Actress! Take it from me, it's hard being mixed! I'm sure she classify herself as just being "Halle". Try not to label people by their race. Except her for who she is.
