I had this problem recently... What I did was got one of the high street optician's offers for free eye tests... then, ***VERY IMPORTANT*** get a copy of your prescription, they LEAGLY have to give you a copy if you ask, and send it off to a glasses retailer online (linked below) I found them amazingly useful...

Yes they do but I am not sure how you can be eligible for them. If you take proof of your income or if you get any benefits or anything and show them to the optician, you might be able to get a discount. There are certain circumstances where you may be exempt anyway, you would have to ask your optician about that.

Go to spec-savers they do cheaper ones but also in chemists and supermarkets they do reading glasses at different strengths and very cheap .As i know your Scottish the cheaper the better (joking)good luck m8

If you are under 16, over 60, on benefits eg JSA, you can get free sight test, (I think) free prescription lenses, but you have to pay for frames, you can get budget frames for some thing like £10.

Check with your local "Lions Club" they help people with glasses that can't afford them.
