From which of the two would make you have a really good time? Dancing to a DJ spinning music? Or real Live instruments, real Live people. Why? What would make a great DJ? What would make a great band?

If you could throw a party, which would you like to see and hear....A DJ or a Party Band?

That's a toss up. DJ's have access to countless of musical era's to entertain the nite away. Live bands, unless they offer a variety, the party-goers become a captive audience to what the band members have taken the time to practice. Besides, there is something about hearing the original artists, singing and playing the original song just like we heard it for the first time. That's where a DJ has the advantage. The DJ has to be in tune with those at the party/event. He or she has to pay careful attention to what age groups are dancing the most and to what music. It would not be in the best interest if the DJ or band only played to one specific age group, unless the party was primarily focused on a certain group of dancers/listeners. My money is on the DJ. I have never had a complaint at any of the parties I have given where a DJ was the prime music maker.

Personally I would much rather have the flexibility of a DJ, because then you have a wider range of music choices, this being nice if you have a large group of peeps who like different types of music. With a band you are generally stuck with the only type of music that they can play, so your music choices narrows quite a bit.

probably a DJ, but a REALLY good band might be okay; with a DJ you get a much wider variety of music than with just one band
