If you shop around a bit, you can pick up things from several places fairly cheaply. I've gotten some good finds at Big Lots, but the selection there is pretty chancy - the stock changes frequently, so you never know what you're going to find. Sometimes dollar stores like the 99 Cent store get scrapbooking supplies in stock. Wal-mart is also a good option. Joann & Michael's aren't the cheapest, but they do publish 40% off coupons fairly regularly, so you can get stuff at a discount there.

Oriental Trading Company (once on their mailing list you get emails for free shipping)
Sticker Planet
WalMart
Target
Michaels
Tall Mouse
JoAnn's
EBay
even Big Lots/PicNSave has scrapbooking supplies now. Its usually a very small section, but they have things for about $1.

Also, if you host an event with Creative Memories or Stampin Up, you get free stuff.

Tuesday Morning gets a selection in too. Some of them are prepackaged items, but they sometimes carry the big names at a very discounted price.

I almost forgot Costco! They always have different selections of albums, paper, scissors, etc.

Take a look at http://scrapbookclearance.com - it's exactly how it sounds! They sell clearance items, so EVERYTHING's cheap. Also, you can check your local Wal*Mart, Target, dollar store, Amazing Savings (if you have one in CA), or any other such store. They often carry quality products for less, as opposed to craft stores like Ragshop, Michael's, or A.C. Moore. Clip their 40% off coupons in your Sunday circulars if you do go there, as many of their items can be fairly expensive. Or, you can check out about.scrapbooking.com, which has info on specials, stores, and products. Good luck! :)

Jo-Ann's. It's more than just fabrics.

Apparently, it's at 1339 Blossomhill Rd in San Jose.

They do have a great scrapbooking section.

Don't forget to look in your junk drawers for lots of embellishments and the like for practically nothing. I use staples, paper clips, bits of ribbon, etc. that i find lying around my house and office in my scrapbooking, and always get compliments on being creative with things that might otherwise be overlooked. Think outside what's usual. :)

Go to www.acmoore.com to find the nearest A.C. Moore store near you. They have a full line of crafts at great prices.
