Even if you don't agree but put a lot of thought into your answer without being rude, they will pick someone who says, "Yeah your totally right" over the person who actually put thought into it. Why even bother asking? LOL for example look at this: http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=Aqo3XGfjHn0gh2V.HPiJhO_sy6IX?qid=1006060405776

People love getting their beliefs validated. They aren't ready to accept that they may be wrong!

A Democrat could put together what they think is the best answer in the world, but do you really think a Republican would pick it as the best answer? The reason is that they don't agree that it's the best answer. This site is completely subjective, so you shouldn't get your feelings hurt when someone doesn't pick your answer as the best one. What's right for you might be dead wrong for someone else.

I don't know why alot of people do. I mean, i don't but some do because they don't like when people tell them what they don't wanna hear. They only like it when people agree with them and therefor could be a reason why. I personally think that the most informative and true seeming answere should be picked for best answere.

You are totally right! You make a great point. People are strange in this way. I think you would be good a moderating a Yahoo Answers discussion. I bet you could find out why the "kiss-ups" generally get voted the best answer.

Cheers.

Challenging one's beliefs is hard for most people to do. Everyone would rather be told they are right than that they were wrong.
