Yes, you have every chance in the world.
My grandmother came from Eastern Europe, on my mothers side, and my fathers family came from Germany.
This country was built by immigrants - too bad so many of us modern Americans are becoming xenophobic.
I wish you the best and hope you make it some day!

Slovaks should not go to California for many reasons. One is that the temptation of shoplifting will be too great for you to resist and you will be forced into a life of garlic sausages and stealing DKNY shirts and ****. And because people in California over the age of 27 are still attractive so you really wouldn't fit in to well.

Cali is expensive so unless you got a couple thousand put away there no chance in hell. A simple 200,000 row home in Philly cost about 1 million even in San Fran. That was also about 4 years ago when I first saw those numbers.

Absolutely. There are several ways to live here (I'm in Los Angeles) temporarily or permanently. There are student visas, work visas, the immigration and naturalization process, and of course marrying an American.
I'd recommend just visiting first though. =)

not by yourself maybe with a few roomates, i live in california and the typical rent in my area is about $1200-1800 american dollars, that's just average, you can find cheaper but it's hard finding a good job.
