I remember a couple of years ago, I watched on the news about the Janet Jackson "nipplegate" scandal, and the the amount of fines and stuff was alot, where if this was shown in Britain after 9pm it wouldn't be a big deal and in Germany they wouldn't bother.

So my question is why is the FCC so uptight on language and partial nudity?

The FCC is uptight about the public airwaves. You can get cable, satellite tv or radio and hear and see all manner of filth. But the FCC regulates the public airwaves, and the public demands that filth be kept at bay. Basically, even though the government doesn't control broadcast, it does control the free airwaves. The FCC has an obligation to the people to keep things clean. And the FCC does more than just slap fines on Howard Stern as well. Visit their website-you will find it most interesting.

So, if you must watch porn, rent it or get a subscription tv service. I have a three year old, and I don't want her to turn on the tv and be bombarded with filth. (Unlikely, though, since we do not watch tv)
