If so whats your oldest living one and if not you a friends.?
I just bought one of these fish so I want to know there average life span the girl told me 25 to 20 years.

They get very large, I hope you have a pond of a tank that is 100+ gallons. (they can grow up to 3 feet)
If kept properly, koi can live about 30-35 years. Some have been reportedly known to live up to 200 years.

I do have koi but most of mine are relatively young. Only 3-7 years. Koi live an average of 20-30 years but I have seen articles in my koi magazines stating that some very luck and well cared for koi have actually lived to be 150 years old. I dont know if its true or not but i cant imagine a reputable magazine saying it if its not.

I don't have any, but I do know quite a bit about them (I worked at PetSmart for 6 years)
Koi are basically a fancy colored carp that get quite large (three feet) and need a very large pond to live in. They are in fact quite easy to care for as long as they have plenty of room and good water quality.
As far as how long they live, that all depends on you. If you keep a koi in a small 100 gallon "pond" they're only going to live a couple of years. But if you have a pond that is at least 1,000 gallons with a good filter, you can expect them to have a long life (up to 50-70 years)
Do as much research as you can on them. A good understanding of what your fish needs is the key to keeping them healthy and happy.

They need 1000+ gallons, and they will live 50+ years if given good care, however the emperor of Japan's lived for 450 years I think
