My period was a 1 1/2 weeks late last month & when i finally got it, i have been spotting consistantly since.. but it's not red blood, it's brown mushy stuff that sometimes has clots in it. i have taken a prenancy test & it was negative. Has anyone else had this happen to them? i have also been extremely tired, emotional & have been having pretty bad cramps since this all began about a month ago. I called & made an appointment with my doctor today, but i'm just wondering if anyone else has experienced this before. Thanks!

i am going thru almost the same thing now. i thought i might be pregnant too, but took a blood test at dr. & found out that i'm not. My bleeding was being caused by my birth control, so my dr. put me on Medroxypr & i take it with my BC, it helps stop abnormal bleeding. When you go to the dr, mention that, maybe it will help for you.. Good luck!! & keep us posted! :)

It is possible you have pelvic inflammatory disease. It is very common but also can be extremely painful during your period. Some of the symptoms do include irregular periods and 'showing' during the rest of the month. You may also have a few cysts on your ovaries. These too can effect your monthly cycle and be uncomfortable during your period.
You have done the right thing by talking to your doctor. He should give you a thorough examination and refer you for more tests if he feels it necessary.
Try not to worry too much. Whatever it is, there will be an answer and once you know what it is, you can deal with it then.

Good luck, and let me know what the doc said, cos I would be interested to hear how you got on.

OK just a note...pregnancy tests give false negatives all the time...all it means is that there wasn't enough hormone detected to mark up the test...it doesn't mean it's not there at all in very small amounts...so NEVER put all your faith in a "false" result on a pregnancy test.

As for your question...I've never heard of that...definately keep that appointment with the doctor...you might want to have him take a blood test for pregnancy while you're at it...just to know for sure.

If you were pregnant, it should show up on a pregnant test by now. But definitely go to a doctor and ask for a blood test. Are you taking any depo/bc, because that could mess up your cycles and bleeding. It could be a number of things if its not pregancy. good Luck and I hope your doctor can figure this stuff out.

If blood is old, the color is brown. And you have to remember that it isn't just blood, the lining of the uterus contains stuff like skin tissue. SO of course there's going to be chunks! (ew, sorry). If you're really worried about it, see a gynecologist.

Its just really old blood...sometimes when your period comes, not all the inside of the uterus comes out, so it could be from the previous month...nothing to worry about

You need to wash that dirty snatch of yours out. Anything thats brown and mushy should only come out the back hole not the front.. Get your plumbing checked out.YUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
