I am sick and f*cking tired of black people playing the race card every time they don't like something or another that happens in their life. Get the hell over it already! I mean hell, when you think about it black people almost have MORE rights than white people do. How do you think it was that OJ got away with murder? And for another thing, I hate to break it to all the people who associate the confederacy with slavery, but guess what? There were people who had slaves up north, too! Not to mention that racism didn't stop at the southern half of the Mason Dixon line, as racism was once just as plentiful up north. But anyways to answer your question, like the other person said, the rebel flag is a piece of southern history, so as far as the states that were a part of the CSA I say let them have it. If black people can get reparations for the treatment of ancestors they probably wouldn't even care about if it wasn't for the money, and that they never even had to experience personally, then southern people should be able to still fly the rebel flag as a part of their history. So long story short (I know, too late) I would have to say that it is heritage, in just the same way that we have In God We Trust on our money even though so few people in this country believe in, let alone put their trust in God.

First of all, Pennsylvania is a union state. The Southern states were the Confederate States. And the flag is heritage just as much as the African flag is heritage to African-Americans. The fact that the South lost doesn't mean that we can't be proud that we stood up for what we belived in. I am not referring to the slavery issue either. There were many other circumstances that initiated the Civil War.

It's heritage. All the people who think it's racist are just making something out of nothing. It's a FLAG. A piece of cloth! It's not like the flag itself can say or do anything racist. It's the person who wields the flag. And even then, if that person is a racist they are misusing the flag to mean something it doesn't.

Both. Southerners look at is as heritage, and racism is there as well, no matter what they say.
When I see the flag up north or out west, first thing I think of is "intimidation", which is racism.
African Americans I am sure see nothing but racism.

I used to be offended by the Rebel flag.
But now, I think if you're racist it's racist, if you're not it's heritage.
It's your right, as an American to fly whatever flag you want, I just hope most of the rebel flags I see are to preserve heritage and not hate.

Racist if you're African-American. Heritage if you're a white person from the South.

Both, I personally dont see why the South obsesses over it though. They lost the war....
oh wow, southernor who totally knows what shes talking about corrects me!!!
Well I am actually African, and I personally am not offended by it at all, unless its used in a racist way, it just makes me uncomfortable.
(btw, I am annoyed by blacks who play the race card too, then they go and do stuff that sterotypes them).

Personally, I don't have a problem with the Southern flag.
And yes actually you are "Irish American". It is just more common to call people with European ancestors white.

Heritage if you are in a union state. Racist if you are in, say, Pennsylvania.
