If there was a way that you could change something in your brain so that no matter how beautiful or ugly someone was you could mask their appearence and not be effected by what they look like would you do it? Or would you want to see what they really look like.

I actually approach your interesting question by posing yet a different question of a similar value......would you rather people's outer appearance could change according to the true person that they really are? ugly thoughts, gossip, negativism, slander, malice, greed, etc. would all cause someone to wrinkle, wart over, splotchy skin, smokers hair, just total nastiness.....while the beauty of ones heart, their love, compassion, patience, general good-will would display a physically beautiful person......that is what I think heaven and `a new body' is going to be like!

It's not necessarily the way someone looks that I have a problem with...it's who they are on the inside that can have the most profound affect on me. I have learned the hard way, that it doesn't matter what someone looks like on the outside...it's their 'true self' that really says it all...unfortunately, a person doesn't always show their 'true self' until you have a lot of time and emotions invested in them...appearance isn't something I would mask if I could...at this point in my life, I would want to mask who they are at their core...one person in particular.

I'd rather mask their appearance, so that everyone is good looking. That way, I wouldn't be able to discriminate against anyone based on how they look. That way, I wouldn't have to look at ugly people, and everyone gets treated equally. It's win-win. Because many many people discrimate against people based only on they're looks every day and don't even realize it. It's hard to stop doing something that you aren't even aware of, but this masking idea could prevent that.

I would not mask anyone's true appearance. We all do that in our own ways already... Like, when we first meet someone, you put on a smile, are nice and pleasent... eventually if they are around us long enough our true personalities come out, along with our faults.. If we masked people's appearances, we would be living a lie , and the truth would be unvelied eventually..

The more you get to know a person, the more beautiful or ugly they become....your original meeting is the true mask.

No, I wouldn't want to cover up their outer appearance. I should be able to get to know someone for who they are regardless of how they look on the outside. If I can't see them for what they are on the inside, then perhaps I should be taking a better look at myself.

No I live and let live, people come in all shapes and sizes and all things in between, beauty is in the eye of the beholder and is more than skin deep.....all those cliches have a purpose.
