Absolutely not. I think it is way too much pressure for the child, develops a sense of entitlement they shouldn't have, and causes them to be far too sexualized before they should be. Kids should be kids and have a normal life without being taught that they must be prettier than all the other girls to be acceptable.

Some parents get Way too carried away with it and put their children through such an ordeal in preparation for the pageants. If the child really want to be a part of it, so be it...but having a child focus way to much on their looks could be detrimental to the child as they get older and could make the child over concerned with their appearance.

Yes, but only if the child enjoys them. Pageants teach children sportsmanship, poise, confidence and social skills. I do not agree with the parents pointing out flaws of the other children to their child. This teaches jealousy and sarcasm. If the parents are not good sports, then they should not enter their children in competitions.

If you mean children's "beauty pageants", then no, i do not agree with them. Because who exactly is behind it all? Parents, and usually mothers. It's not the kids.....except for maybe a few isolated cases. Why not let kids be kids, instead of trying to reclaim your past glory (or compensate for the lack of it) through them?

(Note: that was not directed at you, as i have no idea if you are someone who would do this to a child. It was directed at *anyone* who would do this to a child.)

No I see some of the mothers who are trying to act out their child hood wishes unto their own child.. they need to grow up with toys, & learning about life not winning a flippin pageant...
life is not about being beautiful......
also it attracts sick men to these children look what has happened to some of those kids out there because of these pageants...........

I personally do not see anything wrong with it as long as your child seems to be comfortable with it. I think in some instances parents push their children too far in pageantry, then the girls are getting things such as teeth fixtures at 5 or 6. If a parent isn't taking it to an extreme I think it is possible for it to be a fun and healthy extracurricular activity possibly following into adolescents and adulthood.

NO WAY...it's very disturbing. Why in the heck would parents want their kids to look older? They're already beautiful! It sickens me that a lot of these women live their lives thru their little daughters, coz they couldn't fullfill it themselves. AND it gives pedophiles more reason to be the way they are. Only selfish parents put their little ones in that situation, when there are other ways that their kids can get noticed without having to put them in an older woman's body...makeup is not for children! I say to those parents, GET A LIFE! and let your children be children.

Yes, and no. I think they go a bit overboard, and it's a lot of parents living out their dream through their innocent children.. But, I've seen some of the young girls talk as if it were the only thing they live for. (which quite possibly could be a parent implant, as well)

I'm afraid I agree with the group voting negatively on this question. There is way to much pressure put on children. Also, all the ones I've seen (and granted, I've only seen clips on TV), it appears they are having to behave way too adult for their age.

I think they start way too early. I'm surprised they don't have Little Miss Embryo! Maybe around age 7 or 8 would be better as they have an idea of what they are doing.
