Only in limited cases. If she is able to work, she is not entitled to alimony.

Don't know, but it sounds as though she NEEDS and deserves some alimony, due to the length of their marriage and the fact that this stroke left her partially disabled. She can't be real young, and If she goes into court the judge will take her health into account rather than what you say is her temperament. Her rage and meanness could be due to ongoing high blood pressure or some neurological problem, and there are always two sides to a marriage quarrel which in time you will discover. So called "Texas justice" does not have a good reputation, to put it mildly, but I hope she gets the help she needs. I'm sure she is no angel, but am sorry that he left her after her illness. Whatever happened to "in sickness and in health"? Hope you stay well!

Texas has no mandatory alimony, however there is what is called spousal maintenance where in the spouse maybe required to provide financial support to the other under circumstances of family violence, inability to provide for basic needs due to mental or physical incapacity, if the marriage lasted for more that 10 years or if there is a child with disability that requires homecare.
