If I were him,I would find a way to attend a trades school, learning auto mechanics and then get into engine rebuilding. Maybe become a specialist in the high perfomance application of the race cars. Or he could become a transmission specialist. Any one of these fields pay good money.

Maybe he could become a mechanic for the racers, or he could become an instructor for those wanting to get into the racing industry.

The automobile industry is really growing and if he has any knowledge about cars he could do just about anything.
