In the UK you will need a PGCE to teach in a state school. Strangely how ever it is possible to teach some subjects in a private school with the minimum of qualifications.
The normal route is GCSE's (5 C's with a C or above in Maths & English). A levels & then a Degree/PGCE. You can either do a regular degree & then add a 1yr PGCE/Teacher Training ontop or do a teaching degree which is usually 4yrs.

I started out as a parent helper, then went to my local college to do my level 3 diploma in childhood studies, I then went on to do my teaching certificate level 1. which enabled me to work from 0-8 then 8-16. Im currently working full time as a teaching assistant at the local high school as well as part time therapist/ counsellor. If you want to specialise in a certain subject then you would go to university . keep your options open I loved working with pre-school, junior and now high school children. Go to your local collage they will advise you on what route to take to further your career. good luck .

In the US you'll need a four year degree. Beyond that you'll probably need to pass some state licensing exams. If you are already a college grad you can go back and take just the education classes or there are Masters programs that will also qualify you for the license.

You will need a bachelor's degree from a 4 year university. Then you will have to take state certification tests in the state you plan to teach in. After that you will continue to take CE courses.

In Texas, you can have a degree in anything and get into an alternative certification program. You can attend the program and teach (making salary) at the same time.

Good GCSEs and good A' Levels to get you into university, then a degree. You can do a degree in Education with a specialised subject. Or, you can do a general degree, then go on to do a PGCE. If you are a 'mature student', there are other options. Click here, and good luck.
